Joanne Morgan : Headteacher

Joanne Morgan

I grew up in a small town on the border of Norfolk and Suffolk and first moved to Essex in 2006 to study Developmental Psychology at the University of Essex. During my degree I spent 2 weeks at a school for Physically and Neurologically Impaired (PNI) pupils which catered for children and young people aged 3-19; my 2 week placement developed into 6 months of volunteering. I loved my time at the school and soon applied for my PGCE at Anglia Ruskin and then shortly after secured my first teaching job in Harlow. Within my teaching career in Harlow I taught in all key stages and held a key role in the development of Literacy and Phonics across the school. When the opportunity to work at Gosfield as the Deputy Headteacher came up I knew it was an opportunity that couldn't be missed!

Anika Allen

Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and member of the Senior Leadership Team

I qualified as a teacher in 2001.  Since then, I have taught across the year groups in various locations across Essex and also Australia.  I have always had an interest in Special Educational needs and inclusion, which I pursued during my time at teacher training college.  In 2004 I was successful in securing my first Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) post.  From then on I decided that this was the career path for me and have continued to work as a SENCo in several schools within the Braintree and Halstead district in amongst having my own 2 children.

In September 2015 I became a permanent member of the Gosfield staff for 2 days a week and part of the Senior Leadership team.  I am thoroughly enjoying working alongside the amazing children, parents and staff of Gosfield.

I joined Gosfield Community Primary School in September 2016 having worked within Essex schools for the past 10 years. English is my specialism, which is lucky as I shall be leading the development of English across the school. I love being creative with words and I am a stickler for correct grammar!

I am in my 11th year of teaching and have worked at two schools prior to Gosfield - John Ray Juniors and The Flitch Green Academy. I have lead literacy for several years and I am also a consultant for TT Education - a nationwide company.

I joined Gosfield Community Primary School in September 2016 after working at Great Dunmow for the past 3 years. During my time at Great Dunmow I built up my experience of KS2 and also developed the PE provision across the school. I enjoy working with others and I have supported several teachers as a mentor. In my spare time I love going to the gym, eating out, walking and getting organised for my wedding next year!

Mrs Aitken : Teacher

Mrs Aitken

I have been teaching for 20 years and started my career in a remote primary school in Australia with only 38 students! Here I taught a multi-age year 1,2,3 class but was often called upon to teach all 38 children from years1-7. Needless to say I learnt an awful lot in my first  years of teaching! Since then I have taught all year levels from reception to year 6 in both Australia and England The largest school that I taught in had 740 pupils, so I have certainly experienced both ends of the size scale! I have lived in England for 15 years and have worked in Chelmsford, Braintree, and most recently Belchamp St Paul.
I love travelling and meeting people from different countries. I speak both Italian and Japanese and am always interested in exploring different languages and cultures. I love music, reading, swimming, netball and going for walks in the countryside with my family.

I am a newly qualified teacher, completing my NQT year in Gosfield School, reception class. I am thoroughly enjoying being part of such a lovely and welcoming village school. Before completing my teaching degree specialising in Early Years in May of 2104 at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford, I achieved a level 3 BTEC in childcare where I also specialised in Early Years teaching. This is where my passion for teaching this age range began. I hope to continue teaching within the Early Years so I can continue developing my experiences and developing my professional development. I am enjoying being part of a fun, caring, safe environment that Gosfield School creates and I hope to become a subject leader or foundation leader in the near future.

Miss Wood : Teacher

I qualified in teacher training in the summer of 2011. For the next academic year I wanted to pursue supply teaching to gain as much experience in different schools all over the Essex County which I would be able to apply when I started a permanent job. I relished the opportunity to teach all year groups from Reception to Year 6. The longest of these supply posts was for two terms with a Year 2 class where I supported them through their Key Stage 1 SATs. In September 2012 I joined Gosfield Community Primary School where I started my NQT year working in Class 2 (Years 1 and 2). I am thoroughly enjoying being a part of the hard working, supportive team and creating a fun learning environment for each child. I am looking forward to becoming a subject co-ordinator and other opportunities that arise in teaching to continue building on my experiences.

Mrs Root : Learning Support Assistant

Mrs Root

Learning Support Assistant

I started working at Gosfield Primary School in 2005.In January 2006 I applied for Relief Midday Assistant and secured the position. I still continued to listen to the children read for two afternoons a week.I then became a Learning Support Assistant in Class 4 supporting a pupil with Special Educational Needs. When the child left school I stayed in Class 5, which was incredibly rewarding. I had a fantastic working relationship with the Class Teacher and found working with the whole class very different from working one to one with an individual. I supported groups of children adapting the work appropriately for their needs and ability. After that a job share position came up for Class 2 I jumped at the chance. Although changing from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 1 was quite a difference, through working with the Class Teacher, I consider I slotted into the role very well and adapted to the individual child’s needs very quickly. I thoroughly enjoy my position at Gosfield.

Mr Appleby : Caretaker

Mr Appleby

I joined Gosfield Community Primary School on 1st January 2002. My duties, which I thoroughly enjoy, include ensuring that the school is ready for everyone in the morning. As I walk through Halstead and Braintree, even to this day, very young adults frequently refer to me as 'Mr Appleby' and I am thanked for removing balls from the roof or for hunting down missing sweatshirts! Gosfield School, when I joined , was a wonderful school and with all the improvements and dedicated staff, is even more wonderful today.
