The pupil premium grant is funding provided to schools to close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers. To be eligible parents must be receiving one of the following: Income support or income-based Job Seekers Allowance;
Parents are not eligible if they receive any amount of Working Tax Credit.
The grant is allocated in line with the financial year, which begins in April and allocations are made based from the previous January census. If an eligible pupil joins the school after January their funding will be allocated the following April. Funding for looked after children (LAC) is allocated to the virtual school who then work with the school to determine how it the money is spent.
