At Gosfield Community Primary School, we believe that music plays an important role in inspiring creativity, confidence and self-expression. We are committed to providing children with a wide range of musical opportunities both within and beyond the classroom.

We are delighted to work in partnership with Front Row Music, who provide specialist tuition in guitar, ukulele, keyboard and drums. Children receive high-quality teaching in small groups, developing their musical skills and confidence throughout the year. Each term culminates in a performance, giving pupils the opportunity to showcase their progress and celebrate their achievements with family, friends and the school community.

We also value the experience of watching live music and exposing children to professional performances. Pupils have enjoyed visits to Saffron Hall, where they have been inspired by performances including Yolanda's Band Jam and internationally renowned saxophonist Jess Gillam. These experiences help to broaden children's musical understanding and ignite a lifelong appreciation of music.

Our extra-curricular offer includes a popular Recorder Club and our much-loved School Choir. The choir regularly performs at community events, including the Gosfield Village Fete, the Halstead Christmas Fayre and the Halstead Christmas Light Switch-On, helping children develop their performance skills while strengthening links with the wider community.

This year, our Summer Concert held special significance as we paid tribute to our dear friend, Mr Degnan, who sadly passed away. Entitled "A Musical Journey Through the Ages", the concert featured songs from every decade of his life, spanning from the 1940s to the present day. It was a heartfelt celebration of music, memories and community, bringing pupils, staff and families together to honour a much-loved member of the Gosfield family.

Through performance, participation and enrichment opportunities, we aim to foster a love of music that will stay with our children long after they leave our school.
