Pupil Premium

The pupil premium grant is funding provided to schools to close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers. The funding is based on the number of children register for Free School Meals. To be eligible parents must be receiving one of the following:

  • Child Tax Credit with an annual taxable income of less than £16,190
  • Pension Guarantee Credit
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.
  • Universal Credit, with a household income of £7.400 or less (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance

The grant is allocated in line with the financial year, which begins in April and allocations are made based on the previous January census. If an eligible pupil joins the school after January, their funding will be allocated the following April. Funding for looked after children (LAC) is allocated to the virtual school who then work with the school to determine how the money is spent.

Parents and guardians can check their eligibility here.
